Mike Peters writes:
Members may be interested to note that, as discussed at the
AGM, all the procedures to transfer the Guild from a company limited by shares
to guarantee are now complete
Dutch Validation Event
Mike Peters writes:
On behalf of the Guild Council I wish to publicly
acknowledge the efforts of our Dutch members for organising another successful
validation event in the Netherlands. These events do not happen without
hard work, planning and coordination. I thank Wybo Boersma for his personal
efforts in delivering what was another big step forward for the Guild in
Holland.
Validation
Tim Saunders writes:
The 1 August 2015 edition of the Validation Handbook is now
available on the Guild website. We will now only accept new assignments that
are contained in the 2015 edition but those who are resubmitting following
referral may still use the previous edition for the time being.
Tour Guides working in
Italy
Linda Haydon of ETOA writes:
Our legal advisor in Rome has written the two attached
documents, in both Italian and English, which he advises should be
completed and sent with the ‘dichiarazione’ by Tour Guides who are contracted
to work in Italy.
This should provide the Italian Ministry of Culture with all
the necessary information required.
The first form is the ‘Self Declaration’ which should be
completed by the Tour Guide and the second is to be completed by the Tour
Operator.
Please do revert to me with any questions.
Authentic Musicians
Mike Peters writes:
I have received the following which may be of interest to
members:
"I just thought I'd introduce myself: I'm a singer who
presents authentic (ie unplugged but audible!) WW1 era songs. I work with a
guitarist who plays a banjo from 1890 and a guitar from 1911, and we have
performed at many museums, including the London Transport Museum where we
played atop "Ole Bill" (pictures on my website)
We are tremendously portable and as I say, very very well
researched. We do songs from the Pacifists and Germans as well as the French,
English, Canadians and Americans.
Here's a playlist on YouTube, with live footage:
Let me know if you think you'll need us for anything, and
also if you spread the word I'd be enormously grateful. Not many people seem to
know that it's possible to have these songs presented in a "period
performance" manner; there are a lot of electronic keyboards about"
Sincerely,
Patricia Hammond
