Secretary writes:
The Guild AGM will be held at Highgate House near
Northampton - close to the Naseby battlefield which we will be visiting. The
dates for the event will be Friday 29th - Sunday 31st January 2016. Put the
date in your diary now. Further details will follow.
Dutch Validations
Chris Scott writes:
As last year, I represented the Guild at the Validation Day
held at the Hartenstein Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek near Arnhem. 18 July
2015. As well as being an official Guild UK presence and overseeing that all
procedures and practices were performed in accordance with Guild rules and
ethos, I also acted in the role as Verifier for the assignments.
Three candidates made Assignment One presentations. The
event went very smoothly and was most professional in atmosphere and
performance. The Validation team followed the rules and practices of the Guild
and managed each presentation according to Guild standards and
expectations. I was impressed by the forthright nature of the audience
comments and how supportive they were of both the candidates and the Guild. The
assignment session was followed by a most informative and enjoyable battlefield
tour of the Oosterbeek northern perimeter. AND it was done in English.
If any member would like to do assignment 1, 5 or 6 during
the Arnhem weekend from 8 till 11 October please contact Chris Finn and Wybo
Boersma.
Members e-mail addresses
Secretary writes:
We get a number of requests for details of members e-mail
addresses. Please note that these are published on the website at http://www.gbg-international.com/members/member_contact.htm
Theft on The Somme
Graeme Cooper
On Monday 20th July 2 cars belonging a military recce group
were broken into at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval.
Goods and private belongings were stolen including
Passports. Police attended the crime scene. Members like to be aware and
take precautions.
Validation
Tim Saunders writes:
The latest version of the Validation Manual has now been
posted on the Guild Website and will be ‘live’ on 1 August 2015 and should be
used for all future submission of assignments, less those covered below under
transitionary measures.
Our new Validation Secretary, John Greenacre, has sent out
copies of the Validator’s Handbook to all Validators.
Transitionary
Measures.
Any candidate who has started Validation should be aware
that any Assignments 1-8 which have been already passed continue to count
towards validation. Any assignments currently in preparation or for
resubmission under the old scheme must be submitted to the V Sec by the
extended deadline of 31 Aug 15 after which date only the new assignments will
be accepted.
Thanks are due to Chris Finn who has done an enormous amount
of work to update and maintain the foundations of Validation laid by our
founding fathers, Chris Scott and Christopher Newbould.
