Closure of the Australian
Corps Memorial Park at Le Hamel
Mike Peters writes:
Members planning Anzac tours should be aware the Australian
Corps Memorial Park is closed - information is vague, the following is
extracted from the Australian Govt website:
The Memorial of Le Hamel is closed for maintenance works
until early October. For more detail about the Australian memorial please click
on www.somme-battlefields.com
or www.anzac-france.com
The road leading up to the memorial is closed to vehicles -
groups have been continuing to access the site on foot. Last week there were no
works in progress, members are asked to inform the secretary of any changes to
the current unsatisfactory situation.

Christopher Newbould writes:
The amended validation brochure is on track for publication
at the end of June and members will be informed when this happens. In the
meantime those in the validation process should carry on as they are.
Gallipoli
Stephen John writes:
A Gallipoli update ... The West Krithia road between Twelve
Tree Copse and the Helles Memorial is closed due to road resurfacing. Even
though works began in late April, we have no indication when this will be
completed. Therefore access to W Beach, Lancashire Landing CWGC Cemetery, X
Beach and the southern part of Gully Ravine, can be made on foot only.

Helmets HSE Warning
John Greenacre writes:
For those of you using props on tour - I'm sure we're all
aware of this on the gas masks but the advice on helmets is a new one on me!

Airborne Museum St Mere
Eglise
Andrew Duff writes:
On visiting the museum today I found that both the new
museum hall was open as was the new road and car parks. The best way in now is
straight across at the roundabout and behind the hotel once you leave the dual
carriageway. The new museum hall, whilst short on artefacts, has an excellent
start simulating a C 47 flight into US DZs . Sadly entrance and exit not
signed , enter through left hand door and exit through right hand one.
Hill 60 access
Mike Peters writes:
From June 2nd till November 15th 2014, the
Zwarteleenstraat will not be accessible for traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists
will still have access. Coaches have no access to the parking at Hill 60, but
have to turn left and use the dead end of the Zwarteleenstraat.
